Client Spotlight: Sara Higgins of Hana
Sara Higgins is founder of Hana, a infrared sauna and ice bath wellness sanctuary based in Grey Lynn, Auckland. Olivia chatted to Sara about her own wellness rituals.
How would I describe my reiki experience to someone new to Reiki healing?
My experience of reiki with Olivia was very grounding and I felt a lightness afterward that I hadn’t felt in a long while. Olivia has a very warm nature and makes you feel at ease and nurtured.
What are 3 rituals that bring you back to centre when you fall out?
A trip to the beach for a barefoot walk on the sand and a dip in the ocean
A catch up with a friend for some deep conversation and belly laughs
A double treatment at Hana involving 20 mins in the light bed followed by a 45 min infrared sauna
Mantra/piece of advice that most resonates?
To drop out of my head and into my heart. Pausing and connecting to my heart space and being aware of how it feels physically, then taking several deep breaths and then continuing. I have so much more clarity and connection when I do this.
What is your spiritual practice?
Being on a continuous journey of healing and self discovery for the past several years, delving deep into the layers of conditioning and being committed to growth.
What is your morning ritual?
I wake up at the same time each morning, try not to look at my phone too much (!) and then take my dog Teddy for a walk to the park before heading into Hana. We always stop by Ozone for a coffee and spend some time organising the day ahead. Some mornings I prioritise time to have a pre-work sauna which always leaves me feeling incredibly fresh and grounded for the day ahead!
How do you incorporate balance?
With opening Hana last year, and the long hours required when taking on such a challenge, I really lost my balance. This year I am committed to focusing on it. After a glorious summer holiday, I’ve realised how much more creative energy I have when I am in balance. To ensure I maintain this I am prioritising having some time out of Hana, getting back to my exercise routine of yoga and boxing, and doing more of what brings joy to my life like learning how to surf! Being close to the ocean is incredibly grounding for me so I have been spending as much time as possible in it.
